This camera worked great for me. However, the price of 4.00 is two hundred dollars over the price I paid for it two years ago. It took great pictures and it was easy to use. The only reason I upgraded is because I wanted the option of close cropping pictures and printing them. I only found out after I needed to print wedding photos of my step daughter that it wasn't capable of this. I love the portability and the slim stylish shape. However keep it in a camera bag so you don't scratch the viewer.

We pre-ordered this camera years ago before it even hit stores. The camera has its ups and downs. Here's the short of it:

Pros: If it's a bright and sunny day outside this camera is capable of some excellent photos. We've taken some bright, sharp, and beautiful photos of plants and landscapes with the Optio 60. I have taken some incredible close-up shots of flowers and other plants with the Optio 60.

Cons: If you're indoors, in low light, or taking photos of fast moving objects this camera leaves much to be desired. The battery life is terrible! We suggest you use only rechargeables with this camera as otherwise you'll be wasting your money. Not even lithiums will last long in this camera. It turns out that many of the Optio 60s had a short in the circuit board. The cost of repairing this short is more expensive than the value of the camera. This camera would be perfect connected to an AC power source and mounted on a tripod.

In the end get the Optio 60 if you can find it for or less. Get it if you want something to use for photos of slow moving objects in bright light. We replaced this camera with the Optio M20. The Optio M20 is honestly 100 times better in every way shape and form.

Its really nice to have this camera for easy use, like your mom or your wife can easily use it without any problem or menu knowledge. Most of the imp features are on the 4 way navigation button. The picture are also very good.

Takes horrible pictures - jrgreen2005 -
This camera takes horrible pictures! Pictures taken indoors come out with a yellowish tint. The camera makes people's faces oily and washed out. I have had to retake the same picture three times to get this camera to take a decent one. I do not recommend this camera to anyone. There are other cheap digital cameras that take decent pictures. This Sony is not one of them!

What can I say - this is a fantastic camera! I'm not a professional by any means, but I have already found vast improvement in the quality of my photos by using this. It's a real gem from yesteryear. The colors are vibrant, the skin tones are amazing, and shots taken in good light are right sharp. People who love tweaking options can get a nice range of settings for ISO and aperture, but it doesn't throw so much at you that it gets overwhelming. As a relative newbie I rarely venture far from the auto mode but sometimes I try out the various priority settings or do some manual focus. No matter what my shots always look great.

Near as I can tell the optics are pretty good. You get a range that goes anywhere from 6x zoom (use a tripod!) to the Super Macro - a really awesome feature that practically lets you put the lens right up against an object and shoot. There's a flash hotshoe for external attachment (the on-camera flash is pretty standard fare). I especially love the electronic viewfinder, since I never quite got the hang of looking at the LCD screens on digital cameras. This one is bright and sharp and frames your shot well. You can do a Voice Memo and record yourself so you'll know just what the heck you were photographing at the time. And it takes VGA/QVGA video to boot!

A couple of quick gripes: there is no battery indicator except for "battery is dying in three seconds, powering off" (and there is a design flaw that causes one battery to drain when left in the camera... Google for a fix) Only supports up to 2gb CF cards and archaic 128mb SmartMedia cards. ISO 800/1600 limits resolution to 1.2 megapixels. Autofocus BADLY needs a light as it has a tough time picking distance indoors. Know these limitations, work around them, and the camera will do most everything else flawlessly.

There is only one serious drawback: the camera is over five years old. As a result, the sensor sports only 3.1 megapixels, and can go up to 6 with on-camera interpolation (the result looks somewhere between 4 and 5 megapixels). Highest quality JPEG will get you up to 8x10 printouts before the quality really starts to suffer. If Fuji produced the same exact camera with an upgraded sensor I'd buy it immediately. It is that good.

I previously owned a Canon S-30, a 3-megapixel, which performed adequately for four years. Therefore, I was pretty much sold on the S-60 after reading Consumer's Reports and the ratings of this and other similar quality cameras on Amazon. After only a relatively short ownership period, I have found that the camera works as advertised. Some advantages over the previous design include the higher meapixel resolution, a larger LCD screen, greatly improved menu controls, and a noticeable speed difference as to when the camera is ready for the next shot.

Although I bought a 512 MB compact flash card with the camera, I was also able continue using a CF card from the old camera, its battery, and charger. A distinct advantage as these items run +/- each.

One critical note, however, was that I was never able to connect the camera directly to my computer to download the images (A Dell Dimension 8250 running XP SP2). Each time I connected the USB wire, my computer would not recognize the "device." After several emails to the Canon support staff, we tried everything from re-installing the software supplied with the camera to using troubleshooting from "InstallShield." No success!

My solution to the problem, since I was determined to keep the camera, was to purchase a USB 2.0 Hi-speed Reader (SanDisk SDDR-88-A15 8-in-1 no longer available on Amazon). It installed without problem, and I am able to download images by removing the CF card from the camera. A minor inconvenience.

This was my first digital camera and was selected primarily for it's wide angle lens which I find more usefull. The lens quality could be better, but seems to be available only in a more expensive SLR. No manual included with the ARCSOFT PHOTO STUDIO software. My camera executes flawlessly. It comes with a rechargeable battery and charger. Fuji picture quality is unbelievable. Definitely no complaints here, I absolutely love my camera. It's super easy to operate. The pictures are sharp and clear. I have a new German Shepherd puppy and she moves very quickly. For this camera, no problem, it auto focus and shoots fast. I am glad I bought it before reading all of the negative comments, I would have missed out on a great camera. Definitely worth the money.

Kodak from my prior 35mm popup design, and digital 2mb without a zoom lens, has always surprised me with some great quality photos with its lens, in all lighting situations including video options. There has always been a stickler with Kodak digital cameras, and not 35 mm, about its drainage of batteries while the co. was pushing for docking stations for its cameras with some patent issues with other co. However, I think over time, the NiMh batteries that excelled, much like in the Darwinian context, have been able to fill this void with Maxells first, followed by Duracells which doesn't drain in the Kodak cameras over long length of time vs. other rechargeables which only lasted 1-2 days in the camera. Once this problem was fixed after reading the other review suggestions, I'm glad I purchased this camera. The frame is plastic, so lighter, which made me question its durability. However, with its small size, one would always be careful anyway. Its lens is not so fragile as a Canon digital which went black with mere bump that all other digital cameras endure. The shuttle over the zoom lens was a concern when I read someone selling one with that problem, but if you're a photographer who doesn't necessarily depend on a zoom lens for a great shot on an excessive level, than I don't find it to be much of a concern before purchasing this product after comparative research of what else is on the market. With great lens, great durability, with added features including a stereo for videos albeit small, it's great for the value for what you would purchase such a small digi camera for -- it's far superior to anything on a PDA or cell phone, and it fits so well inside any purse or bag, and battery is there to be ready for any shot on any day, which you can't definitely get from a large 35mm or DSLR in a big bag that needs careful shot planning with a tripod. I love the Kodak lens, but have a Canon for professional tripod shots which Kodak will obviously not be able to cover in a small design with options for fast speed, races, and etc., but it does what it does in the top of its product line.

this is horrible. - David Karson -
this is a horrible camera. i got it for christmas a few years ago, and it worked fine, but now it has many problems. when i turn it on, the shutter cover doesnt open fully, and i have to slide it back with my finger. earlier today, after charging the batteries for five hours, i turned it on once and it worked okay. but then i tried to turn it on again, and it completely locked up. there is also something that rattles inside it when the batteries are taken out. i am fed up with this camera.

My old camera had developed some issues so I bought this one to replace it. I can't believe the value of this camera -- for 2 it is better than my wife's camera that I paid nearly 0 for a few years ago, This camera is so small that I just stick it in my pants pocket and when I need it it's ready. The picture quality in automatic is great and if I need more control there are several scene types that are available, The scenes last scene you used stays in the mix and there is a setting for your favorite scene. I leave that one on "sports" to catch a quick shot of moving subjects and the other one is often just left on portrait or landscape. Battery lasts forever and on a two day trip I didn't even have to recharge it. When it does need recharging it seems to do it in a little over an hour. Great little camera!!!!!!

This little camera is perfect for anything you need it for. It has enough settings to capture the right picture at the right time. You cannot go wrong with Panasonic Lumix. I had a pink panasonic Lumix and my bf had it in his pants pocket while we were snow boarding. Needless to say, too many falls and now a broken camera. So I replaced it with a Nikon cool pix. It was an emergency. Horrible camera. So I went and bought me another Panasonic Lumix. This camera has never done me wrong so I bought another one. I will baby this one to the fullest. It takes great photos, has a lot of settings. It also has HD video recorder.

I go through digital cameras faster than socks. Lose them, break them, give them away, etc. I have had many different brands, megapix, zooms, etc. Name it - I've tried it. However, this Nikon S3000 is the best one of all. And by far. I am extremely happy with it. Not only it looks sweet (slick, lightweight, stylish, hip), but it is also easy to use. Every intuitive, even for someone as technologically challenged as me. And of course, the quality of pictures is outstanding. I would recommend it to anyone.

I've had this since February of 2007, so after 20 months of heavy usage, I'm commenting on it.

Few cons: Low maximum ISO setting, flash takes a bit long to recharge ONLY when the batteries get to around or below 1/2 life. And the flash can come off as somewhat weak, but it's not an advanced point and shoot or an SLR, so it's somewhat acceptable for a much less expensive model.

Pros: Everything else! All the shooting modes work great for just about any situation you may find yourself in. The different color modes work flawlessly when in AUTO (only available in AUTO). Videos are pretty fantastic for such a budget minded camera. I've taken many videos from vacations, in the shop at work, at car shows... and all were great. The visuals are sharp as well as the surprisingly good audio quality.

-Outperforms Kodak Z1275/Z1285(twice the MP's of this L6) and is just as good if not better than the Olympus FE-340(which is another great little camera, by the way). All of which I have used, and this Little L6 constantly takes better shots.

I've gotten used to it's capabilities now, so any bad shots are usually my fault.

Great buy! Never had an actual problem. I would highly recommend the L6 as either a first camera or a carry along/back up for just about anyone. No disappointments here.

I have been in photography for many years ~ 37+. I've owned and played with many cameras. Even though I have a DSLR Canon 20D and 40D with a great line of lens, my favorite camera was the Sony F828. Yes, I know about the bad reviews that it got for its CA and high blooming effect, but it was the most versatile camera I have ever owned. Yes, occasionally I would get the pictures that people were complaining about for the CA and blooming effect, but not often. Ever camera has its strength and weakness, and I knew how to work around this when it needed. It took amazing pictures that I could have never gotten with any other camera. The rotating body was ahead of its time and blows away any camera out there. You could take candid/stealth picture of the subjects to get the most amazing and natural shots ever with this camera because of this rotating body. And the IR pictures are just amazing. All was good till the CCD just went dead on me late Aug of 2010 on vacation.

I was devastated and didn't know what to do as I have been watching the camera scene the whole time since I've had my Sony F828 back in 2004. Nothing appealed to me as nothing out there came close. Now being forced to look at cameras in greater detail as I need a replacement and doing hours of research lead me to the FujiFilm s100sf.

Does it take better pictures than my DSLR----No. Does it have the versatility of my F828---No. But it sure is a nice compromise. I don't like carrying a bag of lens to switch all the time, which is why I don't take the Canon out too often. The lens on this camera is amazing. The 28-400mm is great for composing all kinds of shots and the macro mode isn't too bad either. My Olympus C5050 is my macro king, but this thing is pretty descent. The picture are very sharp (not as sharp as the F828 but very close), but certainly sharper than the-straight-from-camera Canon jpeg images. Post processing raw pictures on the Canon is a different story though, but I don't like post processing every single picture to get this kind of sharpness; I just don't have time for it. When I shoot a Wedding or something special like that, then I'm willing to take the time to do some post processing. That being said, the pictures are truly amazing on the Fuji. The colors are accurate and vivid, the contrast is snappy and the details are excellent. Shooting a subject out in the distance and zooming in on the lens at 400mm, I am amazed at how sharp the picture is when zooming in on the computer to review the shot. And the CA problem is nowhere near as bad as the Sony F828 was, so I'm very happy about that. And remember, I loved my Sony. The flip up LCD, though not as good as the rotating body, is working great for me. Some people, like the rotating LCD screen, but I hate them and I'm glad that this has the flip up only. This is as close as you can get to the F828 rotating body feel, as I can flip that screen up fairly quickly to take a shot. The auto white balance on Fuji is amazing. It is very accurate in a many different light settings. I hate that the white balance adjustment is buried deep in the menu system, but maybe this is why, as I don't have to use it that often. Otherwise, all the most important functions are with buttons on the body of the camera. I almost bought the Sony Nex3 or Nex5, but it fell short for me due to this reason of everything needs to be accessed by menu and it doesn't have a view finder (I hate that!!).

The only reason why I took a chance on this camera was due to one reviewer who was crazy about the F828 like I am and felt that this camera was an excellent replacement. He was right. Although I miss my Sony so much that I sent it in to get repaired, this camera is a solid keeper and is here to stay. I'm very picky about my cameras and the pictures they render, but this one certainly passes for me. I wouldn't have sent the Sony in for the repair if this camera had IR capabilities, as it fills the bill on all the other areas as far as picture quality is concerned and very close to the rotating body with the flip up screen.
You will not be disappointed with IQ of this camera and it feels like a real camera in your hand, not some plastic toy feel. I hope this helps with some of you thinking about getting this camera. I glad I took the chance and have no regrets..

I've had Nikon point-and-shoots in the past, and this is an improvement with the higher resolution, the nifty features and the touch screen. I like how the touchscreen makes navigating the menus a quick affair instead of the endless menu surfing of the past, and the resolution is a high enough quality for me to be happy with while I bide my time for a nice SLR. The slim body makes it easy to slip the camera into pockets and purses, and the camera is relatively lightweight. It has enough features and options to choose from that I can get the photos I want in less-than-ideal environments (low lighting, taking pictures around glass/mirrors, backlighting, etc.).

the reason for the 4 stars: The Smart Portrait feature is kind of annoying. It works great half the time but only under very specific conditions: good environment lighting, clear subject(s), and you better be quick and not accidentally close your eyes! Also, my husband has facial hair, and the camera doesn't know where to focus, and therefore hardly takes a picture of him. I have simply turned the feature off.

If anything changes as we use the camera more, I'll update the review.

I was looking for a camera with a rechargeable battery that takes good quality high-resolution pics along with HD video with zoom available during video taking. This camera's touchscreen interface was great. I really enjoyed the options available along with having the ability to press a button for preview and some settings (not 100% touchscreen), but was disappointed with the quality of the photos and video. The video was nowhere near HD. I played with the settings and used it outside with plenty of light and it was choppy and noisy. I installed the included photo software and that just made it play without breaking up every second, but it was still not HD. I took some photos in low light indoors and played with the ISO settings along with the auto setting and none of them proved to be adequate. You get fuzzy photos without the flash too. In good lighting I found the photos to be too soft around the edges of faces and routinely took blurry pics too. I had to try a couple times just to get a solid photo of my toddler...not enough of a stabilizing feature for me.

I returned it with regret and am looking into Canon compact digital cameras because the Canon Powershot SX20IS that we have now we are very happy with.

On the good side, the swivel body is well integrated into the design (great for take picture over the head of crowds or take picture close to the ground), easy to hold (comfortable in the hand), has an optical view finder in addition to an LCD display (makes picture taking in bright sunlight a breeze), fairly rugged, lots of manual adjustments that have well behaved automatic defaults, the PC/Mac software if user friendly & many good features, optical zoom is totally internal (no lenses moving back & forth), excellent macro capability (focuses down to 2" - great for taking pictures of small items for eBay ads), wide selection of exposure times (compatible with time exposures), very good panoramic image stitching mode, very good color rendition, great optics (no perceivable optical distortion at any zoom level)

On the bad side: Poor battery life (make sure to get a couple of spare batteries, you WILL need them), fairly long time delay between pushing the shutter and taking the picture (makes taking action shots very difficult), built in flash is very limited, connection for external flash requires custom Nikon cable, poor auto-focus in low light conditions, slow lens (high f/#).

I bought this camera for my daughter as she likes to takes pictures but it's only 8 years old. So to buy a new no brand camera for around 40 dollars I may as well opted to purchase this sony used camera for around the nsame price. The camera came with all original accesories is looks a litle used but works fine. Sincerely I amnot too entusiastic with the Sony brand I rather go with a Cannon (which is what I own) but for the price and the usage that is going to be used for is a good deal besides the ¨carls zeiss¨lenses are something worth as that is one of the best advantages that Sony has put into this camera. Function wise it has all the normal function any entry level camera has and it works very fine, the lcd screen is a bit too small for my liking but apart from that i definitely would recomended for a kid as a first camera.

Please let me first explain that I'm not in like manner, a digital photo freak.
Four years ago I used to run around with a much smaller (and simple) Canon digital camera (PowerShot A560 - 7.1 mp) but when I read about Canon's SX100IS and checked out its features, immediately fell in love with it!

I've been using it continuously for almost two years, never had a failure or a "lens error" message. Since I started to use this camera, I loaded it with a 8 GB SDHC card and took all my pictures in the Auto mode with excellent results. I paid 0 for the camera, the SDHC card and carrying case (including taxes, because I live out of the U.S.) but I think I got a good price anyway!

The photo quality is REALLY GOOD for a camera with such lens size (and price level). The 10X optical zoom feature is A MUST for close-up shots!!!
Even open range and skyline photos (sunsets at the beach) were taken, with an awesome image definition!!!

However, it's true that battery life is quite short, so don't forget to carry an 8-pack of fresh AA batteries everytime (specially, if you're planning a long trip with plenty of photo shooting).

I really don't know if newer Canon models for this camera may have a better performance, even with larger megapixel capability. Really, I'm quite happy with this camera, and I would consider to change it only if I find a much better model in a really cheap price. Thank you Canon!

Wow--the price for this camera has really increased. I bought mine about 8 months ago for less than . This is a great little pocket camera. It is my "go to" camera when I don't want to lug my Canon XSi and 3 lenses around. I carry mine in my front shirt pocket and usally have it with me. I have shot over 3000 pics and most of them come out pretty good. Obviously, not as good as my Canon, but good enough for it's size. This year I carried it through 12 days in Europe and 8 days skiing in Colorado. On both trips I left my Canon at home because in Europe I didn't want to chance it getting stolen, and in Colorado I wasn't going to take my big 0 camera on the slopes. So this Fuji has gotten a lot of use. Three things I really like about this camera: 1. It's small enought to carry around in my pocket, 2. The slide on the front which protects the lens and turns the camera on. You simply slide the cover and shoot. And there's very little delay so you're ready to shoot in about a second. 3. The battery life is very good and charges quickly. I'm not for sure I would pay the high price they're asking now, but if you can get it for less than 0 it would be good buy.

This is the best camera I've owned...I regret I didn't use all the features it has and in fact I got a newer "mini" and it doesn't compare to my 935. Everytime I needed for a quick shot, and if the batteries were dead I'd slap in new ones not to find out on my new camera were dead and I need to recharge them. At the 5.3 mega pixcels it is great for most applications in that I'm not going to make giant posters but for 8 and half by 11 pictures are phenominal. PROS
+ Very SLIM. Fits in your pocket comfortably. I wear semi tight pants and it's hardly even noticeable (both feel and sight).
+ A lot of options and features for the price. Face detection is more accurate than most cameras I've used.
+ Video Recording with Audio. I actually used this for video recording more than picture taking. The video recording quality is good for youtube videos (480p @ 30fps). Having a slim pocket sized video camera that recorded at 30fps was perfect for me.
+ Great pictures. 8mp (3,264 x 2,448). Takes good pictures even in fast motion. My favorite feature was the ability to take pictures in 1080p. Makes editing pictures on my 1080p monitor ideal, especially when I wanted to make a desktop background.
+ Great construction. The entire frame is metal. Feels sturdy.
+ Auto focus is responsive.

CONS
- Takes only XD memory. Which is out dated and slightly more expensive than SD.
- Getting accurate lighting usually meant adjusting the light settings in the menu from time to time.

CONCLUSION
It's a great beginner to intermediate camera. If you are into shooting youtube videos or recording road trips at good frames and great video quality - than this is for you! It's takes great HD pictures too. I promise it will not let you down, because it was way more than I expected especially for the price.
I would not have parted with this camera if it wasn't for the fact that I'm upgrading my iPhone 2G to the 3GS which has video recording capabilities (and memory) beyond that of this camera. It's just one less thing for me to carry around, even if it fits snug in my pocket.
So unless you have the iPhone 3GS, or a SLR, I highly recommend this camera.

My last Olympus - S. Rayasa -
I had an older D series Olympus, very good camera but bulky. So naturally, I went and bought this terd! Olympus has finally lost a loyal customer. Not that they care! No recalls either. I cant handle 2 recalls anyway, my Camry is being recalled too!

Anyway, getting back to the Camera, I really liked the size and its movie capability and its Battery life. All great qualities if it worked for a while! Pictures were ok, not as good as my older camera, but close enough. For its size it was a good compromise. But I expected it to last at least 3 years. Now I may go for a Cannon. They seem to be more consistent in their design.

If I were to advice Olympus, I would ask them to use a guard on their power button so that it will not operate the lens opening when it is inside your pocket and thus damage the lens. I would also have them include a small snug fitting hard case. Minor changes could have saved a customer, and, I am sure many more based on other reviews I have read.

Overall a nice little camera by Nikon. It's compact enough to carry in a pocket or purse. It makes quality images if used properly. The anti-shake feature is good, especially if you have trouble holding a camera steady. Battery management is good. It uses two AA batteries. They are available in most places and are not expensive when compared to most others. It will accept alkaline, lithium, oxyride, and rechargeable nickel-metal hydride. The case is plastic. The most delicate parts appear to be the battery hatch and memory card lids, the lens extension, and the monitor screen. If you break the monitor screen Nikon will replace it for 0+/-. Storage is either on the camera's internal memory of 21 MB or removable SD cards. Approved cards are by SanDisk, Toshiba, and Panasonic up to 4GB. The camera is made in China. There is no viewfinder. Image composition is done on the monitor screen. It has 20 language options built into the camera. The flash will work up to a maximum of 14-26 feet, depending on the settings. A CD is provided with editing software for Windows or Macintosh. User manuals in English and Spanish are provided. The lens is a 3x Nikkor, 5.7-17.1mm/f2.8-4.7;(a 35mm equivalent of 35-105mm); 5 elements in 5 groups. The sensor is 7.1 million effective pixels. 6 image sizes are available. The shutter speeds are from 1/1500 to 4 seconds. The self timer runs for 10 seconds. The interface is USB. The three areas which I might consider weaknesses are flash recycle times which might be considered a bit on the slow side, macro which seems like it should go a bit closer, and composing on the monitor screen when the sun shines on it. (It's best to shade the screen from direct rays of the sun when composing.) If you have a camera of this type, it's best to spend a little money on a case to protect it. I bought my Sanyo e760 used- I was a little hesitant after reading some of the negative reviews on here about the cameras dying right away, but the seller I bought it from had it for over a year and loved it. They sold me the 7 megapixel because they were going to upgrade to 10- I don't see why the 7 is great! I've had this camera for a while now and its still working beautifully.

The internal memory is really small, so I bought a 4 gb SD card for it- and omg I went from taking 11 pictures at the highest resolution/megapixel to 1732 photos!!! I can take as many pictures as I want now for a upgrade- its worth it- buy it!

I am also very happy with the video quality. You of course are going to have to invest the 20 bucks for the sd card but with it I can take 2.5 hours with of video on this little camera. I love it!

Great for the amateur photographer/videographer!

As a semi-pro photographer and digital painter I enjoy having different tools for different purposes. A couple of years ago I bought an FZ28 and was quite impressed by the image quality, for a point and shoot. Of course, it did not even come close to the quality I get from my big camera, but there was nothing really to complain about other than comparatively slow focusing which is not unusual for point and shoot cameras. I recently purchased the FZ100 from Amazon. Believe me, the 14 megapixels made me very cautious - that is an awful lot for a tiny sensor and in the past that kind of pixel density has resulted in disaster. Panasonic is definitely doing something different because the image quality of the FZ100 is definitely better than the FZ28 PROVIDED you make a few changes to the settings. It is also much better than you would expect from a 14 Mp tiny sensor - this does not have a CCD sensor. I have found setting the noise reduction to -1 or -2 improves the image detail considerably even though it has a bit more digital noise in the image. For photos, I prefer to turn the sharpness down to -1 and also set saturation and contrast at -1 or -2. You need to experiment a little to find what you like best. For base images for paintings I often go the other way with the settings.
On the whole the image quality is quite good for a superzoom, even at maximum zoom. At the widest angle there is a bit of distortion in the corners, but that is not unusual for a superzoom point and shoot wide angle. But it is perfectly usable in regular size prints. Of course, with big prints, well, the images might not be so great. The focus is very fast, unlike the FZ28 - I can even photograph birds and not have them vanish before the camera focuses. There are gobs of wonderful little settings that are really useful - such as being able to change the area the camera uses to judge focus and then move the focus point around; how I wish my DSLR did that. Exposure accuracy is very good with a nice but not great dynamic range.
If you are thinking that 14 megapixels alone is going to give you DSLR quality you will be terribly disappointed. Judge it for what it is and you will be quite pleased. The lens on this camera, as is often the case with Panasonic, is excellent and to get that quality from such a wide range zoom is a credit to the Panasonic-Leica relationship. I did not give it a 5 star rating because I don't think any point and shoot deserves 5 stars and most don't deserve more than about a 3 and some can't break above 2. But for point and shoot cameras 4 is as high as I will go and this camera is a solid 4 star camera.
As for my uses, I don't suspect I will use it that much for photography as I have a big, expensive camera with wonderful lenses for that purpose. That is not to say it will not produce fine photographs, because it does. Where it will be particularly useful is photographing scenes that I want to turn into my digital paintings. The problem with using a high quality DSLR for digital painting is there is way too much detail to deal with and your paintings tend to come out looking more like really bad photographs. With the FZ100 that deep detail is not there and if one turns up the noise reduction to the maximum the detail really vanishes leaving the essentials which is what is needed for digital painting. By tweaking the noise reduction one can get as much or as little detail as is desirable for a base image for digital painting. High noise reduction with a DSLR still leaves at least 100 times more detail than is desirable. With the good wide angle to super telephoto and excellent color the FZ100 is an excellent tool for the digital artist. But if you are only interested in photos and don't make huge prints the FZ100 will be good and very versatile. It also has very good video capabilities that might replace the need for a dedicated video camera.
I highly recommend this camera, but keep your expectations sensible and don't go pixel peeping. Believe me, this isn't a Hasselblad digital camera; nor does it cost ,000 - for the body only.

Compact, sleek n slim, attractive design, good picture and video quality, user friendly, fully loaded and of course, the price tag is under 150 bucks? What else do you want?
It's 14.2 Megapix, plus 5X optical zoom which is above the standard for its class.

I've been using this camera for 6 months and I've not found any problem yet.
I am thinking of buying another one since my girlfriend has already put it in her purse. There's another new model just came out ( The Samsung TL240 ) which has more features and it's sold around 0 but it's not as compact as this one. So, go grab one before it's discontinued. It's onsale now around 0 somewhere on the internet but I think Amazon.com always has a best price.

Btw, I found just one problem which I just laugh about it since it's not a big deal to me. It's clearly a huge mistake from Samsung about the SD/SDHC memory card supported, it's not compatible. This little camera only uses microSD card. Technically, it's all about space saver and compact but the microSD is expensive and it's not handy cause its size. Again, this is not a big deal breaker for me since I download the file straight out from the camera without taking out the memory card. Well, if you're a big fan of microSD then this is a must have!
The battery life is good enough if you got it fully charged. It takes about 2 hours charging from AC adapter, you can charge it using the USB port on your computer too but it's not efficient.

I don't think people would be ready to aim for the HD movie from the digtal camera because this only captures up to 720p in mp4 playback. Beside, if you record the video in the 720p mode, you would need at least 8GB of memory so you can record for more than 30mins. The video playback is good, clear picture and sound. The night mode is cool too.

Overall, this is the best compact camera out there in its class. I would give it 4.5 star rating because of the memory card supported but I think the cons is not a big deal for me and it would be a pros for someone else so 5 stars for this little bad boy. Happy shooting!

Wow this camera is something else for the price it takes great pictures and HD video. In video mode you can use the zoom (this is a plus I looked at many other cameras not capable of doing this) the camera is real easy to use and has nice features. I have this camera for 3 years never had a Mojor problem wih it.

I never liked point and shoot camera but when my mom got this one I was surpise. I never liked point and shoot because of its zoom. But as I used it, I learned Its almost better then any SRL Cameras. I use it when I go to Partys or away from home.(Prom) I have nikon d70s but I dont wanna break it so I brings this one. I like it alot of those featurs it has. I NEVER HAD a problem with it. The A/F is ok but some times its blurry.

I like when it has the night vision so you can see what you about to take. I use it during prom and was suprise it had it. Other people was suprise too with it.

PRO:
- VARY easy to use.
- It has Auto fix the picures when you take them(you can turn it off if you dont like it). It will make it more colorfull if you want it.
- Its small.
- The view finder has night vision before you take the pictures. Then the flash comes
- Has a way to zoom in your pictures so you can see what you have
- camera does warn you that the shot is blurred or no good. It will ask you if you wanna redue it.
- Good pixels (7.1)
- Has different modes; night, indoor, party, fireworks mode, 360 mode(forgot whats it called sry its late) and others
- Nice battary life.
- Nice Black and white Pictures(I gotten some cool Pictures with this mode. (Its cool!)


Cons:
-Some blurry shots but not alot.
-The veiw finder(the one on top) is Little off then the lens(that shows whats on the screen)
- Little bit slow to start up(you can put your own greeting pictures evertime you start up the camera.) Dont know if you can shut it off or not

Overall: I highly recommend it. If you can afford it. GO FOR IT.

I've had my red T900 for a few weeks and here's a list of the things I love, in roughly decreasing order of importance:

- GREAT video quality. This camera shoots 720p videos at 30fps, and the quality both indoors and outdoors has far exceeded my expectations. I previously used a T100 but also use cameras from Fuji and Casio for some occasions, and the difference between the T900's 720p high-quality mode and the typical VGA fine mode on other cameras is like day and night. Not only do you get HDTV resolution, the colors are more vibrant and the clarity is just great.

- You can optically zoom the lens during video recording. This is a must-have feature for me as I mostly shoot video clips of my kids.

- Very good still picture quality. This is no digital SLR, for sure, and the image quality is probably not as excellent as Canon's and Panasonic's compact digital cameras, but it's still very good. I read some reviews before deciding on this camera and I had worries about picture quality, but they were dispelled the minute I reviewed the still images on my PC. Very good contrast and clarity, and they make great prints.

- Smile shutter. I never thought I'd buy into this feature, but now I absolutely love it! You can set the sensitivity to three levels, and you can even choose "child priority" or "adult priorit"! And it really works! This is just totally awesome for taking still shots of my kids. (Smile shutter does not work in video mode.)

- Large 3.5" touch-screen LCD. There're no conventional controls, just touch-screen, like most Sony camcorders. The LCD is 1920x480 in resolution, and the menu text looks a little jagged, but you'll love its brightness, fast speed, and clarity for viewing images.

- Fairly easy to use. Sony employs a top-level HOME menu system with sub menus, but it's not too confusing, just a tad harder to figure out the advanced stuff than on an, say, iPod touch.

- Stylish and feature-rich. This is quite thin but still features 4x optical zoom with optical stabilization. The zoom also works in movie-recording mode. It takes Memory Stick PRO Duo cards up to 16GB. Battery lasts about 150 pictures with flash. Not bad. It's light-weight so easy to carry in a pocket, too.

In short, I love this digital camera. It's perfect for all occasions.

This is a truly excellent camera that fixes the minor shortcomings of its prior model (the DSC-T700, which I had also owned). Shot quality and intelligent processing are great, and the HD video recording is a welcome addition. Also very stylish and will make you look good when you pull it out at a nightclub!

My wife and I purchased this camera in March 2009. So we have had some time with this camera before writing this review. The camera is excellent. Picture quality is excellent. Plus we love how there is so many ways to customize the camera's settings. We purchased this camera to use for vacations and family functions. We also have a baby on the way and figure we will be using it for her as well. We were looking for a camera that has better picture quality then a point and shoot and more ways to customize the camera's functions. There is a learning curve if you are coming from a point and shoot camera. However, I feel that is part of the fun.

Recently I was using the manual mode on the camera for the first time. I was adjusting the settings and noticed that the mini joystick is working in all directions but to the left. This drives me crazy because there is not other way to adjust the manual settings except with this joystick. This means until we have it fixed we will not be able to use manual mode settings. We are overly careful with this camera so I am confident it was this way from day 1. I wish I had experimented with camera more and noticed this while it was still under warranty.
